Currently I have an iphone 5 AT&T, ios7, and jailbroken. My new 6+ is set for delivery tomorrow and I was wondering if I needed to update to ios8 on this phone (ip5) before restoring the new phone (ip6+) for all of my contacts/pics/etc to transfer.
Thought I read somewhere that if you don't update to ios8 you will lose a lot of your data? May have read wrong though...

I don't want to update if I don't have to because of the fact that it's jailbroken and soon to be unlocked. Figured I would get more money for it when I try to sell it.

TIA

No need to update your 5. You can restore the backup safely to your new phone without needing to update to iOS 8.

You don't need to update your iPhone 5. Just connect your new iPhone to iTunes and restore from a backup or restore it from an iCloud backup.

And I won't lose my pics or anything? did they fix that bug already?
Great, Thank you
