My spouse and I both have new 5s and we are using them with bluetooth speakers in our cars. The speakers are a year or so old, and were previously used with an iPhone 4 and a Windows phone.

Since the 5, when we are driving and both the phone and speaker are stationary, they will disconnect (so the speaker states "connection with ____ has been dropped") and then 15-30 seconds later it will spontaneously reconnect. I don't have any other Bluetooth items in the vehicle that could be interfering.

Ideas?

My iP5 holds a steady connection with the Bluetooth phone set-up in my car. More liken to your situation would be the connection between my iP5 and my jawbone jambox. It's a portable speaker like yours.

Once the phone and speaker(s) are paired, they should hold a connection. Are your speakers of the type where there may be an update for them?

Hmmmm... good question about the update. I will check.
