iphone 5 bumper for cellular reception

I bought a plastic iphone 5 bumper and the thing degraded the cellular reception to where it would not pick up lte any longer. Any nonexpensive bumpers that would not degrade the signal you can recommend? I have a low signal area and the bumper blocked the lte.

What????? Which plastic bumper (with no metal in it) degrades cellular reception? How does it do that?

By the way, Element Sector 5 doesn't degrade signal to a significant extent. Oh sorry it isn't nonexpensive. The cheap copies work.
