A few months back, I bought a white 16GB Verizon iPhone 5. It is a model ND105LL/a meaning that it is a Sprint/Verizon AppleCare replacement phone.
I bought the phone used, and it seems to have been flashed from Verizon to Straight Talk. I have the original box that shows that it was a MD655LL/a, the white 16GB Verizon iPhone 5.
With a Verizon SIM, the phone works on Verizon LTE perfectly fine, but FaceTime and iMessage can't be activated since "My Number" shows as "Unknown"
Same goes for when it has a Sprint SIM, so it's not a Sprint phone because of this.
If the SIM is removed, the "Carrier" section of General>About changes from Verizon 16.0 to TFW 16.0. This phone is not possibly an original TFW Straight Talk phone, because if it was, LTE wouldn't work on Verizon. It does work on this phone, and it has a valid Verizon IMEI. It shows up correctly on My Verizon as an iPhone 5.
It is on 7.1.1. In the past it was on 7.0 and had the issue then, too. Restoring in iTunes didn't affect the carrier.
Is there a way to force the phone to revert to its original Verizon carrier configuration? I want to unflash the phone so it works as it should with Verizon service and recognize my number.
Does a DFU restore or Recovery mode restore make a difference with carrier settings?
