Just curious, but is there a reason why cases with backs for the iPhone 5 have such a massive hole for the camera/flash?

I know when the 4 came out, there were issues with flash reflection, and the opening was made slightly bigger or painted black to stop this.... but now the holes appear to be mahoooooosive compared to 4/4s cases.

Exactly. The hole is larger so it doesn't interfere wit the flash.

Then why is there more hole below the flash than above, i.e. the flash isn't centred in the hole. Is the flash directed towards the middle of the device?
