So currently I'm using the pre-paid service that AT&T offers since I moved to the US about a month ago. I'm not sure if I want to wait until the unlocked iPhone comes out or if I can get a contract phone and unlock it for 2 months during the summer.

The problem is that I know for a fact that I'll be spending the next june and july in Australia and I'd like to be able to use my phone over there instead of buying a new. Is there a possibility that if I end up buying the phone with a contract that I'll be able to unlock it either temporarily or permanently for those 2 months? I know that I'll have to pay for the 2 months I'm not using it in the country.
