While the article is sensationalist, an adapter may not work for some applications, such as docked speakers (or anything that relies on docking in general). For everything else I would expect just buying all new cables would be about as cost effective as these adapters.

is it just me, or does the "iPhone 5" in the picture look narrower then the 4/4S it is next to?
