I bought a used car thats wired for an old-school cel phone with a wired antenna on the back window (I think it is drilled through the glass). I'd like to connect the antenna to my iphone 5 for better reception while on the road.

I've seen the Smoothtalker iphone 5 cradle with antenna coupler. I've also seen the passive patch option. I'm interested in any advice from those with experience. The passive patch would be cheaper and easy and might even be compatible with my next phone but I'm not sure how well they work. I also don't know how much of a difference the Smoothtalker would make. I've looked and can't find a simple plug-in antenna adaptor without a cradle.

I sometimes get a weak signal when I'm out of town but overall poor signal is not a huge issue for me. I just want to do something with the antenna thats already there and nicely wired into the car.

Thanks
