Hello All!

I am trying to research how I will be able to use an AT&T iPhone 5 on T-Mobile. This is what I am understanding so far:

I will need to buy a iPhone from an Apple store full price and there is a way on iTunes to unlock the AT&T iphone? (By clicking restore?).

Now I am reading that I will need an AT&T sim card to activate the phone first. Can someone please walk me step by step on how I would be able to successfully use an iPhone 5 on T-Mobile?

No.
All you need to do is buy an AT&T or Verizon iphone 5 full price.
Then just cut your tmobile sim or get a tmobile nanosim and stick it in. That's it.
You dont need any restores or AT&T sims.

So, I've had my iPhone 5 for about a few weeks now and it completely works fine on T-Mobile..

However, I did not do anything to "unlock" the phone.

It is originally an AT&T phone.. As long as it works on my T-Mobile network, it means it is unlocked.. correct?

Yes, it's unlocked. This means it can be used with any GSM carrier in the world.

If it works totally fine on Tmobile already you have nothing to worry about.
