iPhone 5 - how to shut down when power button doesn't work

Is it possible to power down an iPhone 5 when the power button does not respond to any amount of pushing? We are 2+ hours to an Apple store and will not be able to send it for repair for a bit.

Don't know how you would restart the iPhone though without the power button, connect it to computer via cable I guess.
