I'm on a family plan with 2 other people who have the 4s. We all have unlimited data.

I have the iPhone 4 and am eligible to upgrade to the 5 in October. What impact would this have to my family plan?

Unless you pay full price for the phone you will lose the unlimited data

Only on his line though (you'd go from paying $29 [or free depending if you have the deal from two years ago] for unlimited to $30 for 2gb). The other lines will be unaffected.

Options:
- pay full retail price
- change to share everything plan
- provide own equipment (e.g. buy on eBay)
- keep grandfathered plan but add metered data plan (e.g. 2GB/$30)
- phantom line or switcheroo upgrade scheme (i.e. add new line, buy iPhone 5 with metered data package, switch new line ESN to old flip phone, remove metered data package, switch original line ESN to new iPhone 5)
