Hi,

Someone purchased a Verizon iPhone 5 from me - so they are not bound to any number or anything like that (the package was never opened).

They are from Korea and are wondering how they can go about getting service on the device. I've given him all the info. I could but I cannot answer all his questions.

Would someone be able to help me in aiding him on how to set up his phone on a Korean network? Or does the phone have to be set up on Verizon first? Or can it be jailbroken and just throw in a local GSM Korean SIM?

Thanks so much!

I'm pretty sure the Verizon iPhone 5's sim slot is unlocked. Your friend in Korea should be fine.

Check out this thread.

Short answer: It works.
