iPhone 5 interferes with Android Wifi Transmitter

I just noticed that my iPhone 5 interferes with my dad's wifi transmitter on his Android. It appears that when my iPhone is close to his Android, he can no longer connect to wifi. Has anyone else noticed or experienced this?
