So I live in the netherlands, and according to tweakers it seems iPhone has a problem with making purplish photo's when exposed to alot of light.

I haven't seen this much but here seems to be their proof:

Thoughts?

  • The image on the left has a lot more sun in it
  • Nothing is going to compare to a digital camera
  • Who takes pictures of the sun anyway?
  • There's no problems with the iPhone 5. It's perfect in every way.

This would stink to be honest. I've made tons of counter light photos over the years using my iPhone and they always turned out great. :)

Still waiting for iPhone 5 though..

New lens cover is made out sapphire crystal. Sapphire's natural color is blue which is what causes that purple hue in direct sunlight.

Nothing to do with the colour of sapphire, it's the sensor and possibly the image processing to some degree. Also the lens is artificial sapphire, not the kind in your ring.
