iPhone 5 movie help

Hi everyone,
I'm new to iphone, and have a question...

So, I've recorded a video on my phone in landscape, to get the most visuals in my video.
Now when I get the video off my phone and into imovies on my iMac, i have to rotate it.... which makes the video really rubbish.
I also find when I'm taking a panorama picture that I have to have my phone vertical.

Is there a way of making the default video horizontal rather than vertical??
