I received an automatic push for new carrier settings from 14.1 to 14.2 this morning around 3:30am.

I have no idea what changed or why I received it.

My iPad 3 did NOT receive this update (still on 14.1).

Anyone else notice this update or what may have changed?

Yep got one about a week ago I think it is for emergency alerts.

That was 14.1, which was automatically pushed to both of my devices a week or two ago, as you said.

14.2 is another new one from this morning, but only for my iPhone.

I want to know more about it.

I'm not sure if it just happened this morning, but my iPhone looks like it has 4 bars of LTE while my iPad still only has 3 bars.

I guess I'll keep an eye out for this and anything else.

Carrier settings update att

I have an iphone 4. I also received the previous update which showed the government notifications (amber alerts, emergency alerts) in my notification settings but today, just a short time ago, I received another carrier update and that government section in the notifications settings is GONE. interesting.

My emergency alerts seem the same as they were from 14.1.

Some people at AT&T wireless are claiming 14.2 disabled their hotspot if not somehow part of their plan?

Mine seems fine.

Check your hotspot functionality.

I looked through ALL my settings. The "Government Notifications" disappearance is the only change. I don't have the hotspot capability anyway. The option is listed but it says I have to contact at and t to activate it. I'm on a plan old enough to have unlimited data so they won't give me hotspot.

I got mine now 2 days ago i called at&t tech support they told me that it was to fix some eras with 14.1 causing service disruptions

That makes sense. After I got the 14.1 carrier update, my phone was having searching issues in places where I would normally have a solid connection.

Just received 14.2 tonight; I'll see if that previous behavior resurfaces.

The 14.2 update unlocked "FaceTime over Cellular" for at&t unlimited plan customers.

I'm not sure if "HD Voice" is apart of this update as well.

On my iPhone 4, it looks like it removed the emergency alerts slider. (Since the iPhone 4 was never included in the official list, maybe it was a mistake to include the on/off slider? I never did receive any messages.)

Same for me on my iPhone 4. Was surprised that it showed up on the previous update as it wasn't supposed to be on the 4.

I just got pushed the 14.2 update and it does not enable the FaceTime over Cellular, at least not on the iPhone 4S.
