iPhone 5 ordered from Apple.com vs anywhere else, MAJOR ISSUE

I noticed on units coming from apple.com when you turn them on it asks for the last 4 social and billing zip code even in itunes and there is no way to get past that


where as anything bought anywhere else you dont have to go through this, why do they do this?

To prevent grey market/selling on to other countries maybe?

To prevent someone from stealing your phone before delivery and having their way with your cell plan.
