I bought my 3GS mid cycle, my contract was not up till this past March, so obviously waiting for iPhone 5. I've never "pre-ordered" I'm certainly not waiting in line at an apple store. How does the pre-order work? can I just walk in to a rural (where I live:) ATT company store and pre-order upon announcement? do you pay when you pre order or when you get the phone.
assuming Sept 7th announcement/pre-order date and late sept delivery??
Thanks!
Dan

Preorders are done online only on the Apple website. Apple hasn't announced a new iPhone yet, so there's nothing to preorder atm.

Not true, you can also pre-order off carrier's sites, the dates and method of pickup are just different.

I think of at least 2 other things when I hear / see atm before I think of at the moment. :p

From what I recall, when you pre-order they don't charge you until it ships.

Why spend all that time in the store?

Just go online to either ATT or Apple and order it once they open it up.

Simple stuff. They have shipped millions this way.

When Apple Announces the new Device they will also tell you when where and how you can buy it! ;) Even when you should have it in your hands! :D just have the money ready.
