interesting update to the bottom of the bgr article...

the header in the picture above where it talks about the sprint iphone 5 says week of 9/4, meaning this coming week.

it says "iPhone 5 product introduction expected" and since it's under the week of 9/4 header, it could mean iPhone 5 info will be released this week.

in addition, it says "pre-sales begin for expected October week 1 launch / Sprint launches iPhone 5" meaning pre-sales could begin this week since it's under the week of 9/4 header

UPDATE: Our source clarified that it’s actually possible presales will be starting this week with the phone arriving in the first week of October, not preorders starting in October.

Thanks, Tee!

it's hard to believe though because invites haven't been sent out yet...unless they aren't doing an event...
Yeah I agree. There's no way presales would start without a product event.

I suppose they could surprise everyone and send out invites and have the event all in one week, but this is highly unlikely.

they are going to have a september event like they always do. just like they have WWDC. they can send out invites this week and have the event 12-16

Right...but what he's saying is there's no way they'd begin preorders this coming week, which makes the original post harder to believe.

How would best buy know about all this if apple is so secretive about everything they do?

yeah i see what you mean, i was reading wrong.

Best buy might or might not know. Its the same thing when ATT tells their employees not to take vacation time during a certain time of year.

They might be speculating, who knows.

Agreed, but then again, it wouldn't be a suprise to AT&T that they are getting the iPhone 5 because Apple and AT&T have to agree to it, they can't just announce it for AT&T (or any other carrier) without them knowing.

They know they are getting it, but not when, I guess.

I would say no event this week, but invites will be sent out this week. AT&T put in place there vacation black out two months ago for the last two weeks of September. They have always done this for iphone launches over the last 3yrs to handle all the calls and orders and such.

The 13th is going to be the the day of the event along with preorders starting

I had a gut feeling the invites were gonna come in the short holiday week...So lets hope so! I am so ready to get this ball rollin! I also think that once the invites go out things are going to progress VERY, VERY quickly.

would be good if invites were going out this week for an event within the next 2 weeks & pre-orders week or 2 after that

Having invites go out this week would be great. It would finally mean something is about to happen. That'll be enough to get everyone excited again.

Can anyone tell me how the presale thing works?? Is it paying 100% upfront, or just giving card details and its deducted on the day?? And also, does presales guarantee that you get the iphone on launch day?
