Iphone 5 - red indicator is not going away on my mail app but I have deleted all emails

My Iphone 5 is displaying the red indicator that I have 3 emails but I have deleted all emails in my inbox. I have restarted the phone 3 times and still cannot get the little red indicator to go away.
