Hi,

My iPhone 5 is getting very close to the end of the warranty period. The battery seems to be draining faster than usual. So, I was wondering if I could take it to the Apple store and get a replacement. Is that an option? or would they simply say no?

Also, could someone tell me which iOS version it would be on.

Thanks!

Battery wear and tear is not a warrantied item. Battery failure is, but not holding a charge after a year or two is not

Oh I see. Would there be any other way I could get a replacement.

If there are no issues, no.

You can always take it in for diagnostics. If they find a fault with the battery or anything else, they may replace it.

If it's normal wear and tear, then there's no other way to get it replaced.

Ok thank you! Also I am new to iPhone and didn't know that the 5 couldn't be jailbroken with redsn0w so I tried it and put it into the DFU mode thing but of course it didn't jailbreak so will Apple find that when I take it into the store.

If you have insurance on your phone through your carrier, you can always file a claim and get a new phone. It costs some money though, of course.
