I bought a 16gb black iPhone 5 for $480 from a guy who was upgrading to the 5s. He got it as an apple care replacement, and it is apparently brand new (not a refurb), but didn't come with any box or accessories (any new ones from apple at the replacement). He then gave me the original box, lightning cable, wall charger, and sealed earphones. So, did I beat the going price for these goods? And, next year when the iPhone 6 comes out, how much can I expect for my iPhone 5? Thank you for all the help in advance!

You overpaid a bit. I sold a 64gb Genius Bar replacement brand new, with unused EarPods and the original box for $450. I couldn't get $500 for it anywhere.

No telling how much you can get exactly for it next year, without know what condition it will be in. Figure around $300.

What ? You should of been able to get more.

I just sold a iPhone 4 16GB with knicks here and there for $240, that was with box and accessories.

Guess it all depends when and how you sold it.

You can get a 64 GB 5 on eBay right now from $490-600 NEW, depends on whats listed. I seen one thats new in sealed box sold for $470.

with them discontinuing the 5 i wasn't holding onto mine for another year i feared the price would go down big time so i had to sell mine for the best pricing

I too have an iPhone 5 and want to sell next year. I'm hoping to get at least 275.

Yikes, you undersold... but maybe that's just how it is in your market. Sold mine, 32gb, unlocked and a couple months old, for $540. Also has applecare.

OP- I think you may have overpaid by about $80. BUT, that's just how it would be priced in the PNW. Prices here are moderate-high.

Could you sell me your 64gb iPhone 5s next year? :D

I sold my iPhone 5 32GB black unlocked with the box and a brand new set of accessories for $500 in craigslist yesterday. Only took about 6 hours after I put the ad up. I was honestly surprised. I listed $525 as the asking price but was fully ready to let it go for $450 or even $425 if it lingered long enough.

I had an ad here on marketplace for a cash transaction in NYC. I also had an ad on Craigslist and didn't even get any email from scammers.

Well, in Ontario, Canada, you could have made a lot more.

Sold mine on launch day for $375 mint with generic cable and headphones,Yes I took a little loss on it but was just ready to get rid of it.With it being a new phone you didn't get hurt too bad on it does it have any known warranty? Now as to the value next year that's gonna be a hard sell at $300 (possibly) so I would just take care of it but like I said price wasn't too bad for a new one plus you wanted one right? That's what matters in the long run and it being brand new is a big plus so u don't gotta look at some little scratch on it and wonder how u would feel about the purchase had it not had that little scratch LOL j/k have fun with it the black and slate 5 is my favorite color yet

Sold my slate iPhone 5 16gb for $480 with original accessories and a seidio surface case. Thought that was a great selling price as most were going for cheaper. It was as mint as a phone can get without being brand new, though.

I just sold an unlocked 32gb iPhone 4S with Otterbox and cables, original box, etc. for $375 on eBay, so you should easily get $425-$450 for a good iPhone 5...

I bought a used 64GB for $450 and thought I got an awesome deal. Don't know where people are getting these $500 to $600 figures from. I wouldn't dream of going higher than $400 for a 32GB and $450 for a 64GB.

I sold my 64GB 5 last week for $450 on Craigslist. It had some nicks and scuffs on the edges, but nothing major. Had all accessories and box included. I probably could have fetched more on eBay, but after fees and such I think I made out better on CL.

Depends on timing

Depends on supply/demand of local Craigslist

Depends on condition of the phone

Last those with Apple Care. AppleCare does have inherent value worth about $30-50 residual value.

I'm trying to sell my 16GB AT&T white 5 for close to $500 since it has AppleCare+ and is pretty much like new condition. No bites yet. :(

The dude I bought my 5s from said he sold his for $450 which for this area sounds about right.
