For weeks now, rumours have been building up. A new teardrop shape. An A5 processor. A bigger screen. A new home button. Yes, Im talking about the long-awaited iPhone 5.

Not showing up at WWDC, the first thing the rumour mill had to come up with is: when will it come out? Most people are predicting a September or October release. This is based on leaks from carriers and on common sense: Apple have to release a new iPhone before the holiday season starts, and make sure theres enough supply. Otherwise, the iPhone 4 will have to last two years. Even though its an amazing phone, nothing in todays ever-changing market can last that long.

So, what are they going to change? The iPhone 4 is highly regarded as one of, if not the best smartphone there is. That will get even better when iOS 5 arrives. How can you improve on that? One thing many people are predicting is a larger screen, either 3.7" or 4". Now, this is possible, but with Apple changing the resolution just last year, don expect it to be quite as sharp as your current Retina display. They could get away with a 3.7" screen and still be over their magic 300 ppi mark to define a screen as etina, but it will be less than the iPhone 4s current 326 ppi resolution. Of course, they could just bump up the resolution again, but that wouldn be very practical for developers.

What Im asking myself is: a bigger screen just makes for evolution. Surely with two more months to work on this than usual, that can be it? You can chuck in an A5 processor, more RAMs and memories, maybe even a 64GB model and a better camera, use sim so dep and but this all boils down to one thing: a relatively extensive, but evolutionary upgrade.

Im sure people will still buy it, and Im sure it will still be a huge success, but if your holding your breath for a 3GS to 4 style upgrade (read: big), don
