Just read someone saying the new iPhone 5 screen will show less info in Safari landscape mode than the 4S due the the format change and require more vertical scrolling?

In portrait mode it will show more vertically but the small font size will be the same meaning you would flip to landscape then see less :)

Would be nice to know who "someone saying" is. Else, it's just made up.

With a wider aspect ratio the proportion of height to width in landscape mode is less, yes. But that is what it is. As a benefit you get clearer text because it renders with more detail. And there's a fullscreen mode in Safari in landscape mode in iOS6, so you recover a little height that way. Not a big deal.

Thanks makes sense.

Kinda funny it's a 'bigger screen' but since its still 640 pixels wide the fonts in portrait will be the same small size and without text reflow, you'll flip to landscape and see less content than would have been on the 4S screen and have to scroll more...

Fullscreen mode will be nice, guess it works on the 4S too.

Don't forget "reader" mode, which reflows text on many web pages.

Good point, when reader works its great, but for some reason, often it is not offered.
Maybe that will change with iOS 6.

Can also use a text size + bookmarklet to reflow text but is awkward compared to Android.

Thanks I read that thread then could not find it again with the speed things are changing here.

The picture is worth a 1000 words.
