Ive just received this iphone as I purchased it from a friend thinking it would be an easy fix. Turns out ive never seen the problem nor have I been about to find one similar on the Web. No matter what screen the phone is on, the iTunes hoopup (recovery mode) symbols are shown up in the background of the screen. Ive tried restoring the phone multiple times. Please help. Thank you!

could it be LCD burn in? thats what it looks like.

Agreed - it does look like burn in/image retention. I've never seen that in a phone screen before but it may well just go after a while. You could try locking it on solid white until the battery dies, and do again with black.

I've only seen burn-in on CRT monitors, i've left this phone on the same screens for hours at a time, no problem
