Hello, I have a broken iphone 5 screen (dropped on the ground, shattered) and i've found the best cost effective solution is a screen repair kit. Though i was informed if i replace a Iphone screen myself i would lose my warranty on the phone. Now i was wondering how would an apple store know if i had replaced the screen myself without me telling them blatantly that i had done so.

well....its pretty easy really. you wont be replacing it with an oem screen no matter what the seller is telling you. so when apple opens it up they will know immediately. you can actually get the phone replaced by apple doing an out of warranty repair cheaper than you can buy a replacement screen at this point. Apple will just swap your phone. it is usually a refurb phone but I doubt they have very many refurb iphone 5's at this point. I think it is $249. just call them to make sure
