I have an iPhone 5 that I have paired with the Bluetooth in my Mazda CX-5. I had no issues pairing and all functions such as phone calls and music playback work fine but it will not allow me to shuffle songs. It worked fine with my iPhone 4 and it works with my wife's 3GS but the shuffle button on my user interface in the car is shaded and cannot be selected. Also when I attempt press shuffle directly on the phone it won't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks

maybe it's iOS6?

I have 2 iPhone4s (not 4s - 4<plural>)

My wife's stopped shuffling sometime after we upgraded to iOS6 - but didn't notice until after the car's battery had been disconnected/reconnected to fix an issue with the engine management system.

I deregistered her phone then reregistered it - no go.

I tried turning my wife's iPhone off/on to see if that made a difference. The phone would not turn on! One hour later, after a visit to the Genius bar, I have a 'brand new' iPhone 4.

Registered the new iPhone with the car and ..... SAME PROBLEM! It won't shuffle.

Odd thing is, it won't shuffle when playing via the onboard speaker, headphones and even AirPlay as long as it is connected to the car's bluetooth. Switch car off and shuffle works!

MY iPhone shuffles ok and it's running iOS6 too.

I too have a CX-5.

I wish I'd had the foresight to try the new iPhone while it still had iOS5 on it - it just didn't occur to me that it too would not shuffle (I assumed that bluetooth oddness was the beginnings of a rapid decline than ended in a dead phone)

Bluetooth shuffle SOLVED!

Someone on another forum suggested the app "Muxica" ($1.99) and it makes shuffle work with Bluetooth! After I had no luck with the well-reviewed CarTunes ($4.99), I guessed that apps must use the AVRCP profiles to shuffle and therefore were at the mercy of the Apple/Mazda AVRCP 1.3/1.4 mis-implementation. But Muxica apparently uses its own code to shuffle, so it works over Bluetooth. I'm so happy!

Reviving this thread.

Iphone 6 also will not shuffle music whilst connected via Bluetooth. Coincidentally, I also drive a Mazda CX-5.

shuffle via voice command

I recently learned that you can shuffle your songs by pressing the voice command button on your steering wheel and say "shuffle all". This works with my 2014 CX-5 and an iPhone 5S. Not sure with other models.
