iPhone 5 Sipping Question

I pre ordered the iPhone 5 at Verizon about a week ago. At first I heard that they would be shipped or delivered on October 19th. When i pre ordered them, they said they might not ship or come until October 26th. Why is that? Thanks for the help!! :apple:
