My iphone 5 sleep/wake button (top right hand corner) started giving a lot of false negatives (press and nothing happens) this last weekend. It seems like the right side of the button doesn't do anything, but it works occasionally if I press the left edge, or if I angle the push a certain way (towards the face or towards the rear).

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Should be hardware right?

Anyone go through the same thing and have Apple fix it instead of replace it? I have a $30 spigen screen protector on the phone, and a $40 sticker skin on it.

I've had this problem since day one but more recently too I've been getting more false/negatives and scheduled a Genius Bar Appointment to see if they can swap out my phone for a new one. It was not a big deal at first but now it's become too frequent and inconvenient, gonna lose my screen protectors but its worth buying new ones for a fully functional phone.
