Being that Apple is discontinuing the 5 and is "replacing" it with the 5c, I'm wondering how long stock will last. I'm talking specifically about replacement phones for customers who have warranty issues on their 5.

My power button is getting really flaky and I'm wondering if I wait for a month or so (if I can) if 5 stock will be depleted and Apple will replace my 5 with a 5s (I have AppleCare).

Not a big deal but I thought, what the heck? Maybe wait and get the upgrade?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

How about if they offered to replace with a 5c? Would you be happy with that?

I actually asked myself that. I think I'd have to see it in the flesh first. My understanding is that it has the same specs as the 5?

But I do love the look of the 5/5s. Mine is black.

I think internals are essentially the same. It's a bit heavier and thicker dimension wise, but doesn't seem to be bothering the happy 5c owners I've seen posting. :)

They will not replace it with a newer model, ever! They carry stock of old models just for warranty replacements.

Apple has done this for me twice. They replaced my 2010 Macbook Pro with a 2011. Also when they did the recall on the original iPod nanos, they replaced mine with a current generation.

Don't worry about it.

Someone started the same thread like a week ago... I had an iPhone [1st gen] replaced like a month ago. So I'm pretty sure they will have the iPhone 5 for a very long time.
