Wife's AT&T 16GB iPhone 5 is stuck searching. It has the most current build of iOS 7. Phone was fine, flew from MA to NC, & then it happened. Once she got home, I did a full reset, now I can't get past the activation screen via the phone or iTunes. I've read about "sim gate". Apple told me it's a hardware issue with the SIM card reader, & since she didn't have apple care, she's SOL.
Sad part, this is her 3rd replacement which was replaced 12/2013 & didn't even last 12 months. Her 1st two were victims of the sleep wake button snafu.
I already have both of our 6+s in route to be delivered friday, but is her 5 essentially bricked?
