May not just be with the iPhone 5. I also have a iPad 1 and iPad 3. I have a Netgear N600 router. I also have a MBPR, but that doesn't seem to have the problem.
Problem: I show a wireless signal. I can pull up some websites, but for no reason, I can't open anything else. I still have a signal. But the only way I can get a webpage to load again is by turning off wifi and turning it back on.
I thought I read somewhere that it's WPA2 causing the issue? So I used the older WPA w/random psk key. That didn't help.
Again, signal isn't dropping, when I type in a website, it looks like it hangs. Besides the restarting of wifi on the iPhone/ipad, sometimes if I just retype the website, it'll load.
As I mentioned, the MBPR doesn't seem to have those issues.
