For those looking at this thread, I assume you have an iPhone 5 and use winterboard as well (if not, maybe you can help too:D)

If you open up the notes app, type something, click send via message.

does your keyboard show up raised up like such?

It's a long story but let's say I have been restoring a bunch these last two weeks. Today, I suspected winterboard was causing this because i just restored yesterday and i noticed the keyboard problem at night (the time before that i restored was the 11th and i couldn't recall if i had this keyboard problem or not at that time) and yesterday, i recall only downloading a few tweaks (like 4 or 5) and one of them included winterboard

Today, I decided to test it so i opened up my notes app and click send via message, no keyboard problems

i went into cydia and installed the theme called Translucent Notification Center and its dependencies were winterboard and pincrush

after installing, it asked to reboot so i did. right after reboot, i opened the notes app and click send via message and BAM, the keyboard problem!!

i did not even open winterboard to apply the theme, all i did was install it and reboot. i am not sure if it is winterboard itself or winterboard and another tweak. Uninstalling winterboard or booting up with mobilesubstrate disabled has never fixed this the few times i got this bug (i don't theme my phone)

i will be doing a lot of restoring and testing to see if it's the app itself or a conflictment with another tweak i have:(. I have already emailed saurik about it, i hope he responds soon!

However, when I have an app that runs on the 3.5" resolution, the problem doesn't occur (which probably explains why the majority of people don't experience the problem)

I hope I didn't make this too long but it would be very helpful if you guys were able to give me feedback. It could potentially benefit the many people that experience this problem, including you!

I will be your guinea pig for this matter:D

I always hate to restore, takes me 2-3 hours to bring it to a state that i am comfortable with (i manually restore everything: texts, pictures, notes, downloading apps, setting up the settings for apps/notification center/stock settings, etc.;
I know, it's probably overkill but I'm not comfortable with iTunes restoring from backup because I just don't know what has been restored with the backup; I like to start anew since I have the ability to with the jailbreak)

Doesn't happen here--I have Winterboard and the same Translucent NC theme you downloaded. I haven't seen that problem at all, actually, though I know others have.

Hopefully you'll get some responses that will help you track this down.

Nope. Worked fine here.

hmmm, darn, thanks very much though, seems like a conflicting tweak. now to find out which tweak.

i sure hope i can find out what is the conflicting tweak and once i do, does uninstalling that particular tweak fix the problem (i don't feel too optimistic about this considering booting up with mobilesubstrate disabled doesn't fix it).

Seems to me that when the device with winterboard reboots, it edits some .plist file that the stock iOS reads as well.

This has been happening to me; it is quite annoying but I am living with it. Any fix you end up finding would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone 5
6.1
evasi0n jailbreak
winterboard installed (among many other tweaks)

could you list all the packages you have downloaded from cydia? Maybe I can compare similar tweaks and such

you can install "AppInfo" from cydia. Run it, go to the "Packages" tab and click "Export" and choose "Simple List"

Copy and paste that here. Thank you

I remember seeing a couple threads on this a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I don't remember if there was a known cause or even if there was a fix mentioned. It's worth a shot going back and reading them though. Good luck.

I was the primary replier to those threads

Jesus christ. How is your battery life?

Whoops! Hahaha dam that sucks bro. Can't believe no one has posted a solution.

it's alright. yea, it does suck but i think it's because the problem is not widespread enough for people to kinda actively find a fix.

The only solution i have found is restoring (and it appears restoring from backup fixes the problem too, well, the one time i restored from backup)

update 1: just restored, jailbroke, downloaded SBSettings and Winterboard: no problems so far

update2: once more, crazy mind boggled. I installed winterboard first and installed all my cydia packages. the keyboard problem does NOT pop up!

I am going to restore, jailbreak, install all my cydia packages, and then install winterboard to see if the problem pops up again.

Argh, I really wish someone could get to the bottom of this :/

update3: after the restore and jailbreak. i downloaded all my cydia packages. right afterwards, i open notes and test it and the keyboard is working perfectly fine. i load up cydia and install winterboard. i reboot, open up notes and click send via message and bam, keyboard problem

so it seems the order of installation matters? i don't even know anymore -screams out in madness and pulls on hair-. just frustrated

It's because you're a pirate. AppSync causes this issue.

I don't have AppSync though

the above user has AppSync and assuming AppSync is the cause, then wouldn't booting up in safe mode (mobile substrate disabled) essentially fix the keyboard problem since disables all the cydia tweaks.

I would assume since me booting up in mobile substrate disabled mode doesn't fix the problem, i doubt uninstalling appsync for him would fix the problem?

could you please give more detail? I am just confused. Thank you

This is definitely an issue with AppSync, and I still haven't found anything else that causes this.

Uninstalling AppSync won't fix it, but Restoring does the trick.

thanks for your input.

darn, this is kind of like the weather app program for some people (don't hear people complaining about it anymore so i assume it is fixed with that Weather App Fix that I've heard about a while back). They don't have appsync installed but experience the weather app still crashing

Same problem in my iphone5.
Yesterday install winterboard and test only a lockscreen theme, anymore.
Uninstall winterboard and theme and problem is the same.

For me, it seems if I install winterboard first, I don't get this problem no matter what tweaks of themes I may install. However, if I uninstall winterboard and reinstall it after all my tweaks are installed, the problem comes back

i just started facing his issue today... it somehow shows up only when i try and email some pics from the Photos app.

Notes / sms / email (keyboard) seems to work fine. problem occures ONLY when sending pics as attachment from the gmail app.
