I'm not sure if anyone can save me from insanity and tell me how to turn off voicemail notifications on the iphone 5?

Whenever I got a message in my voicemail I constantly get notifications that I have a message. If I swipe the phone to unlock it dials directly to voicemail (a big pain if you're on fixed minutes).

Does anyone know how to turn these notifications off to save my battery life and minutes?

I was having the same problem. Driving me mad!! If you dial your voicemail (when you have no messages to listen to) it will give you the option to change your settings. I think it's option 2 to turn off enhanced messaging. This seems to have worked for me. If its not option 2 then it will tell you which option it is, just listen to the automated voice.
