Even now an iPhone 5 running iOS 6 is one of the most stable and classic iOS devices as well as being a collectible :D. Does anyone have one or know where I can find one of preferably 64gb? I know they are hard to find but I have been looking for a while. Thanks.

I have two iPhone 5, 64GB devices. Unfortunately, because of replacements over the years both devices are now on iOS 10.

Which is a shame because I would have been happy remaining on iOS 6.1 jailbroken.

Now unfortunately, even if there is a jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 it's not going to happen for my 5's as they are 32-bit.

I know I have the same problem. Have an iPhone 5 16GB but is on iOS 10 and no jailbreak is in sight. Even if there was you wouldn't be able to downgrade to iOS 6 :(

It will be hard to get something that is still on older ios 6 version.
With iOS 11 almost out you will have lots of app compatibility issues.
And you're missing 4-5 years of ios improvements and updates.
Its more of a collectors item and to be honest iOS hasn't really changed that much. Does anyone know where I can look for one?

It takes discipline to stay on a particular iOS ...not updating when everyone around you is.

My 6s is still on 9.0.2...I'm not promising I'll never upgrade, but I'm enjoying my phone immensely as-is. :)

And yes...it's JB.

Same. 6s+ on 9.0.2 and in October it will have been jailbroken for two years.

Mikoto makes ignoring upgrades easy. :D

The only downer for me as a 1/8" spider crack at the bottom right of the glass.

It's barely noticeable...and I don't care.

Yeh for me the constant update notifications before a JB is annoying. I don't mind that others update as I can laugh at their stupidity :D . Just kidding but it's nice to know that on an older version you will get a JB quicker. I would love to get ab iPhone 5 on iOS 6 because some of the first iOS devices I ever used were iOS 5 / 6. Also iOS works great with the hardware.

I'd start looking at ebay and CL.
Maybe post a CL listing that you're looking to purchase an iphone 5 on iOS 6 and see if anyone has one available.
I've looked on eBay but am in UK so not much here. More options are available in US but delivery might cost lots.

The constant reminders can be annoying.

As eyoungren said...that can be turned off if you are JB.

I have a factory unlocked white 64GB iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4. I bought it off eBay back in late 2014 and it was new open box. I did have to wait a few months before the version that met my criteria became available and I reached out to a lot of sellers cause I wanted to buy an iPhone 5 that met exactly what I was looking for (6.1.4, white, a1428, factory unlocked, 64gb). I did eventually find someone. My recommendation would be to subscribe for email alerts or eBay app notifications when new listings in ebay match keywords like 'iPhone 5 iOS 6', 'iPhone 5 6.1', 'iPhone 5 6.1.4.' 'iPhone 5 64gb iOS 6' etc.
I use my iPhone for the basics - music (the music app before it all went downhill), phone and browsing. If you have iTunes Match, iOS 6 works great with it. I also have a running app, a few games, podcast app (also before its downfall), utilities and entertainment apps and I use personal hotspot with ease.
That being said, using iOS 6 now will have limitations and I have had to give up on apps like Uber (and use the mobile site instead). As long as you purchase/download an app on iTunes with your Apple ID, you will almost always be able to download the latest iOS 6 version on the app store as long as it existed unless Apple changes this policy in the future.

Given the healthy iPhone aftermarket, I think you can find these early iOS phones if you are flexible on condition.

As always...ymmv.

Yeh I have been looking on ebay. I an in UK however and there are much less options or sellers with what I am looking for. I also love IOS 6 on the iPhone 5 as I first used iOS with iOS 5 and 6 and 6 runs beautifully on the iPhone 5.
I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 6 and I hope you don’t plan on using it as your daily driver. Even though iOS 6 UI is awesome, it’s a pain to use because the app compatibility is quickly dying. For example, last month, Facebook Messenger killed the compatibility with iOS 6 so you are forced to use the website. And speaking of websites, most of them don’t display properly on iOS 6.

Under Safari? Or in all browsers?

I ask because I don't use Safari. I've used Dolphin since iOS 6. An older version for iOS 6 should be available on the app store.

Yes under Safari. I didn’t try with other browsers but I heard somewhere that Apple was previously forcing devs to use the Safari engine (something like that) which limited the performance of third party browsers. I believe this limitation is gone now but wasn’t in the iOS 6 days.

I’m not sure though, it would be cool if someone could confirm or not this statement.

I've got a 4 which I downgraded to iOS 6. Yeh I know how bad app support is but iPhones just work so well on their original firmware :D. As for using it as my main device. Um xD. I still have iOS devices at home and don't use 3G on the go much but yeh. It would be funny to see people's reactions.

Coolbooter will allow a jail broken iPhone 5 running iOS 8 or 9 to be duel booted back to iOS 6
I know :) :) :). However it is no where near the experience with iOS 6 installed as the main OS. First I would have to find an iPhone 5 that can be jailbroken which means it has to be below 9.3.5 and even then to boot you have to boot to other OS then boot as kloader relies on you being in userland to dump image to memory. Hopefully they update coolbooter to at least change the partition size aswell as this is also very small. Coolbooter is just not like the real thing - yet.

Excellent points regarding coolbooter. I have it right now on an iPhone 5 running (believe it or not...) a Beta 2 software of iOS8.2 (this was back when this particular beta would never lose signing) and when iOS6.1.3 is running via coolbooter it is the exact experience outside of a ton of GB is lost. Otherwise if the phone is ever turned off it only takes a moment to bounce right back to iOS6. Now, before doing so I made sure EVERYTHING is empty on iOS8.2 No music, no apps, no nothing (outside of Cydia, of course).

Just want to add something about CoolBooter : you can now choose the partition size since the last update that was released a week ago.

Yeh making sure the partition is empty would make the dual boot partition larger. It's a cool program and is a great way to semi-downgrade without shsh :D

Really I need to see that XD. That would make it pretty cool and more useful.
