Hi,

When i plug the lightning cable into my iPhone 5, it doesn't charge unless i wiggle it, in which case it will charge for a split second then stop again. The cable works fine on my iPad 4 and my iPad mini so the cable isn't broken. There is nothing in the port blocking it so what could be stopping the lightning cable working and charging my iPhone? Could it be a problem with the new iOS 7 update?

Thanks :)

Nope, not due to the update pretty much. Sounds like a bad connection. I would take to Apple Store and set up a genius appointment. Also, if you bring to Apple Store, you can try their cables.

Forgot to mention, i've tried 2 other cables, and it works on both my iPads fine so its 100% not the cable.

Are you plugging the cable into the phone before or after the charging cable is energized (connected to something) ?

Also, does your PC or Mac detect your iPhone when it is connected?

This means nothing. He said it charges if he wiggles it, happens on all cables. It's the port.

Take it to Apple, they will fix it. Done.

I had same problem. Solution here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5099156

I lost an iPod touch 5 to something similar...just would not connect/charge anymore.

I'm SUUUUUPER paranoid about my iPhone 5s as a result...don't really trust that lightning connector, and I'm SUPER careful to never ever allow it the slightest chance to get dirty, to the point where I've got 4 cradles I use in various places so the connector can never possibly touch anything but the connector on my iPhone lol

Worried about the newer iPads too. My 2's connector has never had an issue, but wish they'd just use microUSB or something for the new ones like everyone else (or even keep using the OLD connector which seemed more robust to me).
