Iphone 5 working with cut down SIM on Virgin

Got my phone approx 09:30.

It working fine with my cut down Virgin SIM

I very carefully with a sharp blade trim the end of the metal off, but this is just a contact plate and does not affect the plate if you do it right.

Most of the plastic off as well.

No need to adjust the thickness.

if the network supports LTE, you don't need a new sim.

Can any one help? Got a pay and go virgin sim yesterday. Cut it down to size. (I did have to take some of the gold chip off) inserted it to iphone 5 and no service. Just don't get it! Do I need to change settings or something? Tried the virgin apn carrier settings without success.

I think they are talking about Virgin in the UK (runs on Everything Everywhere Network) instead of Virgin US
