iPhone 5c Battery Concerns

I use my phone+stand as a video player while I'm on my computer. Of course it's always plugged in via lightning, but is this gonna kill the battery after say, a yr?

Also, I bought my phone at T-Mobile so it comes with 1 yr apple protection. Can I switch my battery out after 11 months? If so, what do I have to say and how long do I have to wait to receive my new battery or phone? If I'm jail broken by then I won't want to switch out my phone.
