iPhone 5C home button seems pushed in

Just got son an iPhone 5C. I've had an iPhone 5, 5S and now a 6. When he's took it out, I've never had our held an iPhone 5C, the home button seems sunken. Also the whole screen surround seems proud of the plastic back, is this correct?

Daughter has a 5 at moment and the home button is nothing like this 5C. Is this just the way the 5C is?

Obviously I need to see another 5C to compare, but just wondering if anyone knows now.
