With news of iphone 5c and 128gb rumours for new phone
Do you think apple will make 32gb the base model for new Flagship ?
Just like they bumped macbook air 11 inch to 128 gb

doubt it. Apple cares about profit margins.

Even the Moto X has 16GB and no expandable memory. So Google cares about profit margin also these days.

They are also pushing "cloud services". Carriers like cloud services because that pushes consumers to consume more data which means more money.

OEM's like Apple and Google/Moto like cloud services so they can sell more services.

Of course they will tell you 16gb is enough space and you can stream everything else and it's convenient and for your best interest.

That excuse doesn't hold water when you have games that are over 1GB each and some that are over 2GB now.

32GB will probably become the entry model soon - if not this year, then next year.

I think it'll happen. Look at the prices, margins will stay the same. https://twitter.com/rjonesy/status/368210269979549697

Agreed. The base storage for the GS4 is also 16GB. I think that Apple will stay with the 16/32/64GB capacities.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 16GB 5C, then 32/64 5S. Adds another differentiating factor.

Not sure about a 128GB 5S, maybe in a couple of years.

Good point about the differentiation. Although I could see 16GB/32GB for the 5C. As for the 128GB 5S, it may depend on how many 128GB iPads they have sold just to use as a gauge for the possible desire for that size storage in an iPhone.

Then again Apple could surprise us (unlikely but you never know) and release the iPhone 5S as 32GB/128GB with either a $100 or $150 difference between the 2 models.

Well it's been 2 years since 64GB became an option. I think we will see 128GB, prices have come down enough.

I really hope we see 32GB as standard.

16gb is plenty for the average user so apple has no incentive to reduce profits by removing the 16gb capacity. 16gb is the highest selling capacity

Actually once the price for 32GB of flash drops below a certain point (known to Apple) it would cost them less to not have a 16GB model as it reduces stocking requirements.

As was stated earlier 5C 16Gb/32GB and 5S 32GB/64GB/128GB for product differentiation.

The 5c in my opinion will only come in 16gb capacity. They won't go all out on a budget phone.
