I know some people will not like me talking about this but anyway I have something I would like to say.
With the release of the iPhone 3gs we saw Voice Over
With the release of iPhone 4S we saw Beta Siri
I expect that buy next year (Wether it be iPhone 5/6) we will see Siri 1.0 (out of Beta)
Then continuing with the voice update on the S cycle we will have Siri 2.0 on the 7th iteration of the iPhone.

Summary:
iPhone 3GS: Voice Over
iPhone 4S: Siri Beta
iPhone 5/6: Siri 1.0
iPhone 5/6 s: Siri 2.0

Thoughts?

I think we will see Siri out of Beta, well before the next iphone. But thats just my personal opinion.

I mean they are already having an update with Siri being more integrated in iOS with 5.1 update and it will still be in beta, or so we think for now.

Plus who knows when they decide its out of beta. How long was Gmail in beta? lol what seemed like forever. yes i get Google isn't Apple, but still.

okay, okay..
Perhaps we will see Siri out of beta in 3-6 months then Siri 2.0 will only be with the next S iPhone?
I agree that, that would be a long beta period

Wouldn't it go:

5/s - Siri 1.0
6/s - Siri 2.0

?

I think there is no list like that / is no need for a list like that.

The point of Siri: it is a SERVER based voice recognition system. So Apple can (and surely does) improve Siri just by updating their Siri backend servers, on a daily basis if they want. And the user simply gets better recognition from one day to the other.

Apple had some job descriptions on their web site recently: they were looking for API developers. An API could truly unleash the power of Siri: third party apps could access Siri voice recognition and add advanced functions. Maybe you have seen the "Siri Proxy" videos on Youtube. That might be a glimpse of the future: you could start your car, set your air conditioning, start a video on your streaming box, etc. simply by saying so.

Which Siri version on which device? Who cares, as long as the 4S gets further Siri client updates and the API.

Only time can tell.

I do believe that there is going to be some kind of voice control but as to the wide implementation that is a different subject for a different day. :D

The assumption seems to be that the trend you've identified is a valid one. I'm not entirely convinced as development of Siri could take place at an entirely different rate and, as stated above, Siri's more of a server feature than a device feature (as far as updating Siri is concerned anyway).

Only time can tell.
^ This. Seems like pointless speculation to me but to each his own, I guess.

9-12 months of Siri being in beta.

Thats not going to happen.

Alpha: The new iPhone is supposed to come out in 2 days and siri is still in beta.
And savings It has been 8 months...

Maybe I was on to something :p

the new iphone won't be announced on wwdc 2012 and won't come out until Fall.. Rather, Apple will announce it in the Fall. Apple will announce the iOS 6 at WWDC.
