iPhone 5s Bad Hardware Serial Number

I bought Iphone 5s though CraigList and Serial of the Phone Doesn't Exists on Apple Website.

"We're sorry, the number you have provided cannot be found in our records. Please verify the number and try again, or contact us."

I'v got scammed. The guy doesn't respond email or calls.

I called Apple, they said they need information on the phone, where,how, date when it purchased. They said it could be stolen.I have no information or whatsoever.

Any Help ?

Are you sure you bought a real iPhone? There are a ton of really convincing fakes, like the goo phone 5s.

It said

Ok if you cared abut warranty should you not have looked up the serial number first before actually buying it. Just saying.

AFAIK it simply means your phone is past the 1 year warranty.
