I have an iPhone 5S that just as of last night started exhibiting a problem. It began when I tried using my built in flash light app and it wouldn't turn on. I then opened the camera app which was all black and unresponsive.
I did a reset and multiple hard resets usin power and home and same thing. Actually it ended up getting even worse after the hard reset and the app just started crashing constantly. If I access the camera from the lock screen it automatically resets the device. Using an app like Instagram results in an error saying it is unable to launch the camera and to try again.
Tried factory restoring twice and restoring from a back up once and nothing is fixing it. Spoke to Apple support via online chat last night and unfortunately I don't have a local Apple Store to take this into. I do have AppleCare though so looks like I need to have a new phone sent to me and mail this one back.
Where it is Christmas and I really don't want to be without my phone Apple suggested the Express Service option where they send me a new phone in a couple days then I mail mine back.
So just a couple basic questions.
1. Does anyone know if I'll need to be paying money for this express service even with my AppleCare.
2. Has this happened to anyone else or am I just that unlucky? I already had a 5C with issues that I upgraded to a 5S when I returned it.
