I am looking for a good car charger for my new iPhone 5S. I ordered one off of amazon, which I thought was good (I had a similar one for my 4s that served me well for the whole time between the 4s and the 5s) but the phone says it is not 'supported.'

Does anyone have any real world experience with good chargers that are 'supported' by Apple for iOS7/iPhone 5S? It seems some sellers on Amazon are saying they sell certified Apple chargers but they still give the phones an error message saying the cables/chargers are not certified.

Thanks!

A link would be nice. :) (I just got my first iPhone and am curious as well)

The ATT car charger that you can get at a retail store is quite adequate. It's durable and pushes out 2.1A. I like it.

AFAIK Apple doesn't support any 3rd party accessories. It's up to the accessory maker to meet Apple's requirements.

Use reputable resellers and accessory makers. None of mine are Apple certified and they all work fine with all of our Apple devices.

how about a 5/5s charger with an audio minijack output?
Why would a charger have an audio output? What audio would it be generating? Are you asking for a combo charger and FM modulator?

I believe Griffin is a reputable accessory maker. I use the Autopilot - it's a 30-pin charger with an audio output to which I can connect the 1/8" cable that comes out of the back of my factory car stereo (I have an '03 Expedition, but I have the '03 Navigator head unit). This lets me get the audio out while charging all in 1 cable.

I think I've answered this above. The solution I had was the Autopilot --> a ProClip 30-pin device holder which was fine until I got the iPhone 5. Since then, I've been using Apple's 30-pin to Lightning adapter, but the adapter is wearing out. I have ordered the 30-pin to Lightning adapter cable which will connect with a newer ProClip device holder (for the iPhone 5/5s) and is something I can use with the existing Autopilot.

None of that would be necessary if anyone made a car charger for the iPhone with lightning connector that has an audio output.

It's always the problem of the cables. I've been told that using the cables that come with the phone would solve most of such problems. I personally use Avantek for my iphone 5s with the Apple cable. Worked really well, versatile and low profile.
