Pretty sure you can an unlocked one now. Since the T-Mobile one is unlocked.

if you buy an ATT iPhone full price, restore it in iTunes it will be unlocked. Unless you tied the IMEI to a service contract, then it might not work and you'll have to submit that unlock request.

I bought a 5S 32GB ATT version full price "device only." Went home, restored it in iTunes, "congrats its unlocked" message came up. Then popped in a new sim.

My experience is that the AT&T unlock process takes a few days.

The full price T-Mobile phone purchased from the Apple store (in person or online) is fully unlocked. If you buy from the carrier store it'll be locked.

Yes, to the first question. For me, it was yes to the second question at an Apple Store in Chicago on Saturday. It might depend on the individual store manager.

I bought at Apple Store the 5S FULL PRICE but with ATT card.
I replaced the card and put mine (ATT too).

So now to have it unlocked what's the best?
1) Call ATT and ask to unlock it
2) Restore trough iTunes
3) Wait for Apple to sell the factory unlocked with no sim inside and return mine for this

Did you give them any account or contract information, or did you just buy the device? If the latter, since you bought it full price from the Apple Store, it should already be unlocked.The easiest way to check is to grab a SIM card from another carrier and try it.

Generally, they are, but sometimes if Apple changes its system they can be unreliable. If you bought it from Apple and it's AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, it should be unlocked.
