Just been looking on eBay at iPhones and noticed that a gold iPhone 5s 16GB just sold for over £2000! I don't understand what idiot would pay that much when you can buy it brand new from Apple for £549! All the stores have stock as well. Any ideas?

The bids jumped from around £300 then straight to £900 then upwards of £2000? I really don't understand....

It's a scam. They'll want to send the phone abroad, or pay via cheque or something.

Either way, if the seller falls for it, they won't have a phone or any money.

For all we know, nobody has fallen for anything. Somebody put in a high bid and won the auction. We've no idea if the seller actually shipped the item, or contacted the winner and surmised that the winner was/is attempting a scam. People fail to pay upfront all the time on eBay.
