iPhone 5s.. iTunes misrepresenting data

When syncing my 5s with iTunes my data information is incorrect. For example, my iPhone has 40 applications installed, but my iTunes says there is 52 apps. Same thing with my Photos, Audio and Documents and Data.. any help to this? Because of this it won't allow my phone to sync and backup..

your iTunes is showing all your apps, iPhone and iPad ones (I'm assuming you have one). my iTunes shows 95 apps, however there are only 87 on my phone. the remaining apps that aren't accounted for are iPad only apps.

as for the photos question, I'm not sure.
