Not only are the phones 14% more expensive than the US to buy outright, the extra you pay on the plan has more than doubled over the 64GB 4s. For the first time I'm considering a different phone - its simply too expensive...

This doesn't seem to hard to me ... VAT? Keep in mind, most of us in the US pay sales tax on top of the advertised price. It will be less than 14%, but ....
 
Okay, CHOICE has really gone off the rails now. Like the poster above me said, the US prices don't have sales tax added to them. The cost of doing business in Australia far higher due to staffing costs.

Just using Apple to spread their cause via misinformation.
 
$1129 for a 64GB iphone....... which, like most phones, is expected to have a shelf life of no more than 2-3 years.

I would prefer a HTC One 64GB for $770.

Goodbye Apple - you won't be having my money
