Does anyone think it's possible that the rumor about the quantity shortage due to the finger print sensor is true? If so, I wonder if they wanted many to believe they wouldn't be offering pre-orders so they don't get as many but will go live with 5S pre-orders along with the 5C...?

Stop for a minute and think about the logic (or lack there of) of a company trying to trick people into not pre-ordering their product.

Stop for a minute and take in what I said. If they don't want pre-orders to exceptionally exceed what they know they can offer, it would make sense. How would doing this be any more hurt on business than not offering a pre-order at all. They'll still have lines. They'll still get their publicity.

I suspect you're still not thinking this through. Even ignoring how unprofessional and damaging to their reputation it would be to lie about taking pre-orders, pre-orders are never unlimited. No need to keep it all hush-hush. They would just set aside however many they can for pre-orders, and then cut it off when they hit the limit. If they do what you propose, that's what will happen anyway. I'm failing to see the point of keeping it a secret when many will call it more of a jerk-a$$ move than just admitting upfront that pre-orders would be limited.

To be fair I did check if they offered 5s preorders... I'm glad I didn't have to stay up late like last year to preorder.

Yeah. :/ From what I understand it was very smooth sailing this year. I'm assuming it's because the demand for the C is lower, though.

It sure seems that way. I plan to order the 5s as soon as it's available online though, even if it means I don't get it as early as those that wait in line at the stores.

I talked with AT&T this afternoon and found out they will be selling them on the 20th as well so I wonder if I could go to the store that day. I am just not big on waiting in a line. That is crazy.
