Could this be the iPhone manufacturing date?
Go to settings/Cellular then scroll all the way down to the very bottom. It will say last reset: Sep 19,2013,8:08 AM or what ever your date is. This is not from a previous back up. it was like this before ever connecting to a computer, and I checked around 10 of them at the Apple Store and they all had dates in September.

Check it out and post back please!

The minute you update to iOS 7.0.2, that date gets reset.

This will yield production week:

38 is the last week of September. My phone was manufactured then.

Mine has the date and time I originally set up the phone. It did not reset when I updated to 7.0.2.

Does anyone know the significance of the factory code? Mine says C3.

Be glad you did not get the C4 version. Those tend to overheat, self ignite and then eventually explode.

C3 means made in China. :) There are iPhone factories in Brazil, I think so there.

Mine says August 3rd, 8:49 PM. May be the day iOS was installed at the factory because this is obviously not the day I set up the phone or updated to 7.0.2. I restored from a backup, so that may be when I last reset my usage on my 4S?

38 is the last full week of September.

Remember, just because the OS is reset does not mean that the phone is complete. The cases are probably the last thing done.

Checking the manufactured date says that mine was produced week 39 (just a little over a week ago!). I ordered my iPhone online and received it a few days ago.

I wasn't sure if there was further delineation between each factory in China. Didn't realize some production was in Brazil. Interesting.

What about C5? ;-)

As I remember, iPhone 4 and older gens are made there to ease up on the production capacity of China as well as logistics reason. Foxxconn opened a plant there.

Hmmm. Mine is coming up as week 38 as well... which I find curious as I bought it at the local Apple store on Sept 21 (Saturday).

It's also telling me that it is a 32GB model, when it is actually 16GB.

The color is correct, at least (gold).

And yes, I double-checked that I typed the serial correctly.

Even though your all taking about iPhone 5s, what does some of the things like machine model 5,1 etc?

Week 38 (I bought it on the 21st so it must have literally be fresh from the factory as week 38 started on 9/16/13).

My compass was off about 10 degrees and the level was off 2 degrees. I did a DFU reset and now it seems the compass is within 5 degrees but the level is still off 2 degrees.
